We've all heard the adage "when life hands you a lemon, make lemonade". Well sometimes you get a bumper crop of lemons and life just plain sucks for awhile.
The secret sauce of success is to love the lemons life hands you. Easier said than done, you say? I say easier done than living with bitterness and waiting for it to pass.
And less of what doesn't.
Simple prescription, right?
Then why do we find it so darned difficult to do?
Let's play "What If"
What if you loved your job so much you couldn't wait to get out of bed to do it every day?
What if you had the courage to say "No" to the things you really don't want to do?
What if people accepted your choices and didn't try to make you feel guilty for saying "No"?
What would you do differently than you are doing right now?
Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.
I have always liked working back from a deadline. I get more done that way. Instead of planning out 119 days, let's imagine we're already there and take a look back.
If you only had 119 days left to live your life, what would be the most important thing you would want to accomplish?
119 days is basically 4 months. 1/3 of a year. A drop in the bucket of life. Would you set yet another weight loss goal and spend the rest of the year contemplating your naval?
Or would you go for connections instead? Moments of majesty, grace, beauty?
What would you want to be known for? Remembered for?
There are 119 days left in the year. What will you do with that?
